About Us

Tangatours, located on beautiful Moreton Island, is looking for an outgoing and motivated individual to join our team as a Parasail Skipper! 

Moreton Island is the 3rd largest sand island in the world, and is a sub-tropical paradise – complete with wide open beaches, an abundance of wildlife, and plenty of diving opportunities. Uniquely, we are only 1 hour and 15 minutes ferry launch away from Brisbane, the state capital for Queensland.

 

The Role

The successful applicant will have a combination of marine and customer service skills, with a passion for safety and delivering unforgettable moments. Our skippers master a variety of vessels, including three 12m pontoon vessels, parasailing vessels and jet skis. These vessels are used to various tours, such as observation, snorkelling, sight-seeing, wildlife spotting, parasailing, diving and banana boat / float rides.

Parasail experience desired but not essential, please advise if you have the experience.

We are also seeking parasail deckhands. To be a deckhand you do not need to have a commercial skippers ticket, however experience on the water is advantageous. Experienced deckhands looking to become a parasail skipper. All training providing for right candidate.

As well as mastering our vessels, our Skippers assist in helping customers with our shops- greeting guests, check-in for tours and complete daily check-lists.

This position is available now! The successful applicant will be available to start immediately, or within a short period of time as negotiated. Please note, this position will require you to relocate to Moreton Island.

 

The Applicant

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate the ability to operate in line with company policy and regulatory requirements;
  • Oversee the safe running of all tours, ensuring the vessel meets all current health and safety legislation with relevant risk assessment.
  • Ensure crew have clear instructions regarding operational situations.
  • Responsible for navigation and planning, leading the crew and safety of passengers.
  • Maintain and manage the vessel to clean standard.
  • Assist with logging boat logs end of each month.
  • Conduct monthly emergency drills with staff
  • Participate in skipper’s meetings monthly.

The successful applicant must have:

  • Coxswain Licence (including orals);
  • PWC Licence;
  • A passion for customer service;
  • Willingness to learn new skills;
  • Current First Aid Certificate (Provide First Aid);
  • A current blue card
  • Fully Covid vaccinated 

Additional desirable skills include:

  • MED 3 / Mechanical background on inboard and outboard engines
  • Experience driving parasail vessel
  • Administrative or Computer Skills;
  • Strong knowledge of marine industry & tourism
  • Diving and / or customer service skills;
  • Prior experience in a similar role.
  • Parasail experience

 

This is a full-time position, for which you will be required to relocate and reside on Moreton Island.
